Serama with swollen/irritated eye

Here's hoping you start to see improvement! How is he acting through all of this? Is it bothering him? Keep us updated if you have time.

He's acting like normal. Still eating and drinking fine. He does scratch some so I would think it does bother him but it's not like he's constantly scratching. Thanks for asking!

So here's a question with some of the small hobby farms or maybe just the regular joe in mind that's doesn't have $250 to spend on a vet bill. so if you start treatment with baytril and dose it wrong ( like in my case )or maybe treated for 3 days and not five or whatever the case may be, it's not working now and maybe the bird has become immune to it. Whats the next antibiotic of choice? Tylan? Or should of Tylan been first choice and then baytril?

Day 4 with new treatment and I'm VERY happy to announce that finally I see results and a road to recovery. Tomorrow I will call to get results from tests and to report. I'm just happy we can finally see some results!!

He's squinting a little and he's not 100%, but the picture speaks for its self.
I will post his lab results as soon as I hear

Update ..
Did the 10day course of meds and ointment for his eyes. Within those 10days, recovery seemed fast and we finally thought we had the upper hand. One eye compleatly healed and the other was on its way.

This morning I went out to check on him, since I still have him isolated from the others, and to my surprise the pus was starting back up on the original eye.. To make a long story short, I have another vet visit this Saturday.
Very disappointing to see him back at square one :(

Sorry @tonyschicks - very frustrating update. Curious to hear what the vet says.

There's always the school of thought that if it's not bothering him, and the others don't have it, maybe just wait it out? I know that's hard though.

Hopefully your vet has better advice than me!!

So here we go with another 10day course of meds

The vet seemed surprised to see him back with the same problem. Said these bacterial infections sometimes are hard to treat on the first try.
@deacons waiting isn't an option only bc his eyes get so full of pus so fast that I worry it can escalate to something else.
Let's see how it goes this time around
