I ordered 4 chicks from a hatchery and they sent me 5. We were excited- but the first day we had a baby chick drown in the waterer. So we are back down to 4.

We ordered 2 Salmon Faverolles and 2 Americanas. Sadly, it was one of the Faverolles we lost.

So could you tell us what our BOGO chick is?

Third one from the left:

Here's another shot of her/him:

And one more- middle one:

Also, we of course ordered and hope they are all pullets... but what do you think about this Faverolle?

I've never had Faverolles so I didn't know if that comb coming in is early signs of roo or not...

Thanks guys!

Thank you for both bits of info! I'm still rather new at this- started last may with my first bunch and decided to add 4 more now that the others a all grown and I see the space available in the coop/roosting bar.

So you think the darker one is a faverolle as well? Are there toe number differences? I never thought of checking the feet to find out!

And I think they were labeled as both things (Easter Eggers and in parentheses- ameraucana) but I know there are differences. I will have to read up on those so I don't keep making that mistake of what I call them.

Thanks! :)

Any time you see the term easter eggers in parentheses, you are guaranteed to not be getting true Ameraucana. Since both Faverolles and Easter Eggers both have muffs and beards, the best way to tell them apart would be the legs. The Easter Eggers have what look like greenish colored legs, Faverolles have feathers on their legs.
