Pipd's Peeps!

I just went out to check on her. No clicking. Gave her a little egg yolk on the tip of her beak and she pecked at it. Then, offered scrambled egg which she ate some. Not as vigorous as the rest, but she was eating the egg. She also pooped. It was well formed for chicks, but a little grey in color. Which I think is normal for them right now, but maybe she ate too much dirt? I have a little dish with dirt and grit for them. I will keep an eye on her.

Definitely keep an eye out. I don't think gray color in droppings indicates anything more than something she ate, so could just be the dirt. At least, I've never heard of gray being anything specific. 🤔 Glad she's not clicking anymore, though, and it's good that she's still eating and pooping even if a bit less vigorous than the rest.

Me .... 😭

The barred rock is acting the same today. I gave her a few drops of nutri-drench and egg yolk. The egg yolk, she pecked at off of the syringe.

Her poo was grayish with urates, but there was clear liquid as well. The poo was kind of formed and small. Not sure if she's eating much. She stand by herself a lot - very vocal when I pick her up. No noticeable problems. She has some feather growth coming in.

Tonight, I'm going to put her in a separate area so that I can watch her more closely - food and water intake as well as output.

I logged in and fixed the spacing. Ugh, I'm not sure why it does that on my phone!

Hmm... Does the nutri-drench seem to be helping her much? I wonder if you shouldn't back off on that and go ahead and give them a course of Corid. Since they've had soil exposure, it's possible she's having a light case of coccidiosis. There isn't always blood in the droppings with that, sometimes you just see lethargy. You can continue to give them egg / yolks or give her a few drops of sugar water for energy, but the nutri-drench would sort of counteract the way that the Corid works. My only hesitance there would be if the nutri-drench really seems to perk her up, as I wouldn't want to take that away in that case unless completely necessary.

Is this the same Barred Rock that was having issues when you first got them?

I will check on her this evening. You have a good memory - I had to scroll through past messages. I'm sure it's the same one. Yesterday she seemed to do better after the nutri-drench, but I can't say for sure that she was as active as the others.

Well, she seems to be fine. I set her off to the side and she pooped right away. It looks good. Put her back in and she followed others around. She also preened herself. She didn't scream as much when I picked her up. I don't know what to think. Maybe I need to stop worrying so much?

It's tough not to worry when they're acting off, especially if you don't have a lot of chick experience. :hugs If she's eating, drinking, and pooping, though, she's probably fine for now. Maybe she just needed a little boost and the nutri-drench gave her just that.
