I rescued 3 baby blue Jays from a flood and storm this evening. They were just laying in my yard death cold and not moving. It was like they were in a zombie state unable to move. They wouldn't even open their eyes. I decided to put them in the Bator and went out to eat. When I came back they were moving around and chirping. Yay! But my question is.. Should I take extra precaution in cleaning the incubator? I was going to set some silkies and quail within the next few days. How should I clean it? It's a LG Styrofoam incubator.

Even if I am hatching domestic poultry, I sanitize the incubator between hatches.

Unless you want to strip out the shell, you will only be able to get a good cleaning on the bottom half, but if you protect the electronics by taping a plastic bag over them with painter's tape, you can use Lysol spray to sanitize the lid after wiping off any dirt or down.

For the bottom half, I do a laundry tub dunk with a mild bleach solution then air dry. I wipe all poop off the wire bottom and soak that too.

I usually clean with vinegar in between hatches. I was scared of using bleach! Haha. I just didn't know if I needed extra precaution since they were wild. Thanks!

I've been using dtshwashing liquid on the bottom and the screen. I've been wiping the top down with the same. Never thought of using the spray sanitizer. Thanks.
