Hi there i wondered if anybody had an idea as to the sex of my chicken? there about 7 weeks at the moment. I've had many chicken before since childhood but i'm having difficulty judging these two! There Buff Orpingtons

These first pictures is of the same bird i'm sure its a Hen but she/he is very dominant and is very much the leader also her comb is just a little bit more pronounced than my other bird although not as red.

These second pictures are of my other bird i'm sure is a roo he/she has MASSIVE legs very much the stance of a roo his/her comb is redder than the others and slightly more defined although not as big also he/she is noticeably larger than the other bird.

on a side note i finished there pen the other day what do you guys think? i think i did a good job!! lol

I'm leaning toward both pullets myself. I'm not seeing wattles, to be concerned about. You can also post at "what breed or gender is this."

I don't mind if one is a roo I hope one is! But if the general consensus is that there hens then so be it :)

I've two more chicks they have hatched recently maybe one of those will be a roo!

The ones in the OP are both female. If you had a male he'd be obvious by now. Our male Orpington started looking male at around 4 weeks old.

Why thank you! I've tried to give them as much space as possible I've got a few other little bits to build . . Going to put an outside perch in the middle and maybe a little shelter somewhere with a corrugated roof :) but of shade etc what you think?

A little shade will be quite welcome by your birds - it will also give them an additional place to go to to feel secure if they become alert to an aerial predator, etc and want to seek cover.
