I need help please, my young goose around 9 months old flew down the road to another dam after getting spooked.
I have the father only as the mother died. I took the father down and the young one came out of the dam and started to follow me and the other goose but its a bit of a walk back and he flew back to the dam. How do I catch the young one as he is very nervous. I go down the hill to feed him twice a day. Would love some Ideas, Thank You.

Welcome to BYC.

When I had to catch a duck who went down to the river I used a dog X pen I set it up with the opening facing the water and for many days took food down and put it at the back of the pen so the duck would have to walk into the pen and all the way to the back giving me time to walk up and close off the opening. Some have even used plastic fencing or people and made a fence on both sides then someone gets into the water either by walking or canoe kayak depending on the body of water and herds the ducks/goose into the pen or what ever you decide to use. It is not an easy task especially if the goose is already spooked but I say keep at it and hopefully you'll get him home. Then clip one wing to keep him there.

Thank you. I went down to the dam twice a day and fed the goose and then I showed it some grain bread and it came right up to me and after a few days of that it came close enough for me to grab it and now its wings are clipped and back with its dad.

That is great news, sounds like it was a pretty easy catch too. I bet he is happy to be home with his dad too.

Ahhhh the first day I had Kiwi he flew out of his pin and walked about a mile down the road, I had to chase him into a corner of a house's garage and deck and grabbed him, took about thirty minutes.
