They show up here every spring.

Years ago when my brother visited more than once a year, shortly after he left, he turned around and came rushing back. The pond by the road had dried up and the Avocets were walking their chicks down the road to get to the next pond that does not dry up. I was so happy he came back to let me now. I grabbed the camera and shot lots of pics.

Turns out mama of litter #2 had three boys and six girls. We might get a boy but we've decided we'd be okay with a girl.
So, one of these is ours.
