1st time gosling owner now sure what this is

Hello everyone,

I got this Chinese gosling from TS about 2 weeks ago and yesterday I noticed this on her. My neighbor thinks it might be where the umbilicus didn't detach but not sure how to treat it she doesn't seem bothered by it. I also have called multiple places around me and no one will see geese.

Thats what I thought my neighbor doesn't think so she said its more were the unbilical would have been since its further up

I think your neighbor is on the right track - that does look like it involves the umbilical area. Sometimes the umbilicus doesn't close (or "heal") properly and "bumps" remain immediately after hatch. If there is no weeping, bleeding, or other concerning signs, I'd let it be and merely monitor it. It's possible that with time, it will dry up and fall off on its own. Best of luck!

I'd leave it be too. If it's the vent, I've had chicks with slightly prolapse vents that resolved over time. If it's the navel it would just be a birth defect and it shouldn't bother the goose.

you can look for the vent to see it , if that is not the vent , you will see the vent further down if you cannot find the vent further down that means that that is the vent
