Thanks all of you for your kind responses. Once we isolate the problem we hope to have more chicks in the future. Although now I have to research if old and new chicks adapt well together. Have a good day

I wish you were joining under happier circumstance, how sad to lose half your flock.

That covers some really important points (quarantine first then the "look but can't touch" arrangement) for successfully integrating new birds.

Yes he is digging under the yard fence. We had a recent wind storm and tree fell so that part of the part of the fence had a small area for him to dig under. There are also two other spots around the yard where he was scratching. I have to get rid of him before he takes out the rest.
