Hi! This is my first set of ducks and when I looked into the baby pen she was running weird. Upon further inspection, it’s as if she broke her leg. Is there anything we can do for her? She’s about 3 days old. I can try and get a video if that’s more helpful. I’ve attached pictures of her leg and then took another BYC members of their ducks foot because it’s exactly the same as ours.

I think it is likely to be congenital rather than a break. But I cannot know that for certain

It looks like it might benefit from a little splint to hold the leg and foot in proper alignment as you can hold the leg and foot straight.

Would it all of a sudden do that if it was congenital? She was fine, then all of a sudden the limping. Any guidance on splinting ?

You can use medical tape or vet wrap and tape a cut out from something like an old credit card shaped to the foot, kinda like the sole of a shoe. That might work to straighten it out. I have done that before. You will just have to make sure the tape is not cutting off circulation. She may not walk much with it on, but it will help keep the webbies straight while they strengthen.

You might also use a piece cut off a popsicle stick. Be sure to put a soft layer of dressing between the spint and the foot. And as Ducklady wrote, be sure not to bind it tightly and cut off the circulation.
