I had one of my D'uccles turn out to be a roo. He started crowing recently.
This is my other D'uccle who hasn't started crowing and I am wondering if she may actually be a hen?
Just wanted some other opinions!

The feathers I thought were saddle feathers are actually coming off and being replaced with the speckled feathers.

The comb says for sure cockerel, but the feathers look like female feathering. Right about now is when male specific feathering would be coming in, and maybe it’s just not visible. Looks like a pullet except for the comb. :p This is a tricky one, but I say pullet.

It was crazy because my roo d'uccle had the same comb just a bit bigger and he was the same age but you could definitely see male feathering.
He also started crowing about 7 weeks. This one hasn't said a peep.
He or she has me stumped.

I’m going to guess male, my d’uccle that’s laying rarely ever has a comb that red unless it’s really hot out.
I have looked at so many images of hen d'uccles and I immediately thought the same. Especially since my other d'uccle started crowing and I was sure this one was a roo too but this one hasn't even attempted to crow.
Guess we will be stumped for now. 🤷‍♀️

I knew somebody who had 3 Barnevelders, all 3 laying, but one of them has such huge wattle and comb that people kept arguing with her it's a rooster! I would not give up on her as yet. Not unless there will be boy saddle feathers and he starts crowing. But then one of my Polish who laid for several years started to crow in old age.
