As far as I can tell... I have been breeding/raising Silkie's for only a couple years now... but I NEVER have to wait 6 months to pick the boys out of the crowd.

Your gals are nicely bearded and their head crest is still female shaped... missing the longer feathers at the very back that make it look like a mullet instead of a bob. But also behavior is VERY telling in cockerels. It is hardest of course when they are the same gender.

Hopefully your gals won't be excessively broody. It's great that they are easy to tell apart to. I love having variety. :pop

They tend to get more chatty as they get closer to laying, as just one indicator. I use fake eggs to show them where to lay. :cool:
