My chicks are 7 weeks old this weekend. Still only sure of 2 boys.

Still hoping the others are girls and still too early for wee Eggbert, its comb as only just started to develop and considering it has same parentage as all the black and white barred ones its quite a bit behind in growth, this is why I'm still also hoping #4 is a girl as also has the same parentage but comb remains yellow in comparison to the other two of the same mix.

Dad is CCL x White leghorn and mums are either Rhode Rocks, Bluebelle or Scots Grey, though I think the majority of eggs were Rhode Rocks.

Welcome your thoughts, opinions and guesses!

We're now at 8 week old and still hoping 1 and 3 are girls.

Eggbert and 4 have me scratching my head, some huge comb and wattles on 4, but not as big nor red as boys 2 and 5 and even more obvious in the side by side photo. Eggbert still small, just sprouting a comb and looks a touch red.

Appreciate your thoughts on the updated pics.

Looks to me like 1, 3 and 4 are girls. 4's comb is a bit peachy and not red like the other barred rock. I can't see saddle feathers on the white one either. But little Eggbert looks very girly.

Thanks so much for your thoughts. I will feel very lucky if 4 out of the 6 are girls!

They are almost 9 weeks old now and there is no sign of saddle feathers yet, not even on the boys (from what I can see with my limited knowledge!).

I will share more photos in a week or two when they will be around 11 qeeks old and would love your thoughts then too please!

@JedJackson @Rhodebar Lover Thank you for your thoughts!

Number 4 is a strange one for sure. It certainly doesn't appear cockerel like in its behaviour but that comb and wattles screams cockerel I know. I think it will have me wondering for a while, especially when comparing to the colour of the comb of 2 and 5

Is there something else in 4 and Eggbert that you see that make you say only 1 and 3 are pullets?

Not questioning you! Just trying to learn. I really hope 1 and 3 are girls. I love the colouring of the brown one.
