A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Barefoot through the snow this morning. Stepped out on my deck to call my dog in for breakfast. Two of my turkeys had jumped the fence into my backyard. Soon as they heard my voice they came running to me. They wanted to go back to the barn . (only 160 feet right) I could do that for my turkeys. Lol. I did ,was worth it. They so sweet, was hoping there would be at least a couple of mean obnoxious turkeys in the group to eat but no.. All so sweet.

There's a guy on one of the marans threads promoting tom turkeys as surrogate parents. Was it Romeo who insisted on that? I doubt every tom does that, but apparently french people use nice toms for brooding occasionally.

Yes, that was my sweet Romeo :) He loves babies and is always willing to step in and help raise them. I really feel bad that I may have to seperated him from the flock. I've seen some being happening but haven't had a single fertilized egg :/

None of my other toms have ever shown any interest and 1 pretty much panicked when a baby jumped on his back lol. Romeo just calmly lets the babies sit there when they want.

Maybe he's so maternal because he's not overloaded with boy juice? I hope you can keep him with the itty-bitties at least. 💕
