Upgrading the chicken holder 3000. This area will be fore my 7 pullets for now, but will eventually be boarded up to make a hen house. More upgrades to come

Salvaged some metal roofing from a demo job and now my coop has a roof!!! Began boarding up the back wall of solid 2x4… eventually, this thing will be hurricane proof! But the Florida rains have been wreaking havoc on my feeders, so I had to get them under something. Searching for more free/cheap 2x4 to finish the job.

kudos for salvaging most of your materials! I'd recommend investing in some hardware cloth, it will help keep your ladies safe, chicken wire will not keep out predators.

Agreed. Was only using the chicken wire to contain my pullets for a couple of weeks while they got a smidge bigger. I do plan on adding hardware cloth, but I’ll be doubling the size of the run and the shape and walls will change. Floor currently has hardware cloth over every square inch. Doing a bit at a time as I can afford it. Thus far the coop is 100% salvaged material.

Had a few extra pieces of OSB and salvaged off of a bunch of pallets. Got two more walls done. One more wall and I can add electrical. She’s getting a fan, lights, and a big zapper!!! After that is done, I’ll be running water to it and modifying my waterers to accept a hose for auto fill and also adding a spout so I can add rooster booster to them periodically. I’ll also be cementing the floor so I can start putting bedding in there to make for easier cleanup and adding some roosting boxes.
