Hi folks. My Dutch bantams are in the process of hatching and wanted to get myself prepared with chick crumbs. I have just noticed on the label that firstly it says "this feed does not contain a coccidiostat drug and secondly, says "from hatching to 4-8 weeks old".

Do I have the wrong chick crumbs??

**Ooops..sorry guys..misread and obviously says from when they hatch to 4-8 weeks old** so answered my own question.

What about the coccidiostat drug though? Do really need it? Only got a few bantams...

The feed you bought is non-medicated, otherwise it's fine. Medicated feed contains a small amount of coccidiostat drugs that helps prevent coccidiosis. It's not essential that you feed them medicated feed, but some people like the extra protection it offers against coccidiosis.
