Hi! I’ve just reduced 3 ex battery hens this morning. I’ve just give them a health check and noticed two of the girls owed Beaks are longer than their top? I’ve read multiple reasons why this can happen but do I need to get them trimmed at all?

The chickens have probably their beaks trimmed at the hatchery to prevent feather picking, but the one on the left has a scissors beak which may require some care to keep her eating normally. A dog nail clipper and a file can be used carefully to help the beak touch. Eating crumbles out of a bowl with tall sides may be helpful. You might also want to make a little wet chicken feed daily, and keep it fresh.
