Hehe!  Me TOO!!!!  I got it early though and my chicks hatched this weekend.  So it's like a double gift!  And it's a gift that keeps on giving!  Hubby doesn't realize what he has done!!!!!

To weigh in on the whole gender thing and temp, it's 50-50 what the gender of a chick will be. I don't think temperature can change an x chromosome into a y. If there was a way to determine hatch gender via heat, everybody would be doing it..that 1 to 5 ratio you're seeing is plain ole bad luck, nothing you're doing.

My husband wants to get some guineas because they eat bugs not plants. Can anyone tell me more about guineas and if its true. I do a big garden and and like my birds to free range but don't want them to eat my garden.

Early Mother's Day. One of Hennyhandlers Silkie eggs hatched this afternoon and another one has pipped!
