Here are 2 eggs gathered yesterday. The little one is from a serama pullet, the big one is from a leghorn pullet.

The Serama is about 1/2 pound, the Leghorn is about 4 pounds.

Surely you mean the hen is 4 pounds and not the egg???

But how can a 1/2 pound hen lay an egg???????????????

Whats the catch????
Im not familur with serama, maybee its a songbirds egg??

Serama's are extra small bantams. The tiny girls are often incapable of laying a good size egg - but some do fine. This is a pullet so I hope she does better on later attempts. The leghorn is, of course, engineered to lay nice big eggs but for a pullet this egg was pretty impressive. The irony was that I collected both on the same day from pullets about the same age.

Yes, the Serama hen is just 7 ounces and the Leghorn hen is of average size - 4 pounds was a guess - she might be heavier.
