Anyone up for a Hatchalong?

I don't usually get home until late, like 10:30 so I think Im catching them when they are asleep. Im just way anxious about it. Its my first time trying to hatch Emu eggs. Im hoping to get at least 2 out of the 5 to hatch but who knows

Today is day 49 for eggs 1,2 &5. Egg #1 is wiggling like crazy but no sounds from the egg. Egg 2 & 5 have not wiggled yet but I am keeping my fingers crossed. Now egg 8 & 9 are on day 44 and number 9 is a wiggling! Eggs 10, 11 & 12 are still early but showing good signs of weight loss, these eggs came from NY which is one state away so I am hoping they do something

congrats on the wigglers!

My last emu egg has just sounded.. should hatch before the 5th.. he's still kicking up a storm!
Funny thing is he's from one of the OLD eggs... so I'm pretty convinced that the woman I got them from must have gotten them mixed up.. since it appears all of her fresh eggs are bad... not sure if her male emu wasn't doing his job or if the eggs got laid in a muddy hole and were washed... but hey.. I have one very active lil baby in an egg.. so I'm not going to complain since the eggs were free!

I am routing for you all!

Our lone egg that was a stinker, got dug up by some animal. I was walking the property with DH last night and saw a football shaped emerald lump in the run-off area, I'm like.... Um, is that our Emu egg? And sure enough, upon closer inspection, it was. Our 21 yr old says, "it wasn't ready to quit. It freed itself".

How can I tell if my egg had sounded? Today is day 45 for egg E and D.

you tap test them.. when an egg has sounded it means the chick has internally pipped (however that only goes for wigglers... lol)
a rotten egg will also have the high pitch sound since the inner membrane will have pulled away from the shell

i use a heavy metal drill bit (the best sound comes from a heavy solid piece of metal) .. set the eggs on a solid surface.. like a wooden table.. and gently tap with the drill bit
if the sound is a deep resonating THUNK.. then it hasn't sounded.. if it has a higher pitch sound that doesn't resonate.. kind of like tapping on fine bone china.. then it has sounded

Egg #1 has not wiggled since I weighed it on day 49 two days ago. I gently hand drilled a hole to find a dead emu inside

it had to have died after I weighed it. I did move it to the bottom of the incubator so it would not be on the rack when it tried to hatch and I think that is what did it

Egg 2 &5 are still nothing no wiggle no nothing. Egg 1 did not lose that much weight, only 63 grams. It was also a football shaped egg compared to the others. I just wish it hatched out for me. All that turning by hand just for it to die on day 49 really hurts
