Are blue and lavenders really blue and purple?

Silly question, but why are gray chickens called "blue" and light gray chickens called "lavender"? Or am I just color blind?

I don't think you are color blind. They aren't precisely blue or lavender. They are close.
And a bird that isn't perfect for the SOP won't be as close.

Pretty common terminology for animals. In the same way blue is used to describe similar-ish cat, dog, horse, etc colors.

One man's grey is another man's blue.
Idk I have some blues and to me they look more blue then grey.
Or maybe because there's also a pattern in some breeds that is called grey.
That pattern is black and white (silver) so its called grey and isn't grey.
And then there is silver that is white.
Barred that is barred and barred that isn't barred but cuckoo.
Its all coo-coo isn't it?
