Experts, my new lot of Easter Eggers are now 7 weeks old. I’m getting better at telling boys from girls, but I’d love some expert feedback on their gender, please? I have some definite boys, some definite females and some that I thought were female but am not sure about now. What do you think? I’ve numbered all the chickens to make it a bit easier. Thanks in advance.

I‘d say 5 is definitely a cockerel too.

9, 10, 11 and 12 I think are pullets, but they’re faces are getting pink, particularly 12.

13 and 14 I’d say are pullets, but again getting a little pink in the wattles.

I agree with your guesses so far. Interesting EEs, do you know their breeding?

Most of the EEs I’ve seen in Australia (where I am) don’t seem to have the fluffy beards that most EEs seem to have in the US. My EE rooster looks similar to a Rhode Island Red, and many of the pullets I’ve hatched look similar to Blue Copper Marans or Black Copper Marans. About 1 in 6 have a pea comb (although none of these did) and about the same have feathered feet/legs. Almost none of what I’ve said points to EE but, I get an interesting mix of green, pink and light brown eggs from my girls. So there must be something in their grandparents or great grandparents giving them the ‘blue‘ egg gene, but I don’t know what.

I'd say that 1, 3, and 5 are roos.
