FYI, this thread is over 6 years old, so regulations may have changed since then. The definition of poultry also varies from place to place. In some places rabbits are considered poultry, in other places not, for example.

I haven't looked at where you're from so I'm not versed enough to speak about anywhere other than my locality.

The HOA landscape where I'm from is very gray, and courts around here tend to side with the landowner rather than the developer.

I'm not providing legal advice, rather my own opinion. Personally, I would be up for the fight over chickens as pets rather than poultry. Especially, given the verbiage in covenants for my neighborhood.
