Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Na she is not a quail. She is the bantie(one of the ones hatched by the turkeys) i put in with the first baby that hatched by it's self. She is actually only 3 days older than the oldest quail but she think she is their mother already lol.

oh, shes great and in size ratio she could almost be a mother. she reminds me of an emu compared with the rest, good luck with them.

Very disappointing result from my new Rcom incubator.
Only 11 out of 24 eggs hatched, although I think it had
humidity issues in the last 3 days- pump didnt seem to be pumping much.

Checked remaining eggs- 7 dead in shell, perfectly formed, 5 not fertile.

On a brighter note, I picked up 2 beautiful Leghorn hens to cross with my Aruacana
roosters and hopefully produce pure blue eggs. Also picked up 2 dozen barred Plymouth Rock eggs
to incubate next.

Hi Im in New South Wales....Wollongong. Im moving up to Brisbane in 5 months time.....cant take my chickens with me. I have recently been married & Im going to move from NSW to Qld in about 5 months. I cant take my beloved brood with me

I have a coop that you can also have for free.
I have 3 laying hens (about 18months old) and a Silky Roo, aged 24 months. I have one meat chicken (20weeks) that I saved but isnt walking very well. I keep her separate from the others as they chase & peck the poor thing.
I will post a pic of them & the coop. I also have a flimsy run I did up if you want that as well. All FREE!!!

Pick up only.
I would really like them to go to a good home. The roo is very tame. You can pick him up & cuddle him & pat him. I put him in the garage every night in his own little pen (which you can also have for free). The meat chicken also has her own cage that sits on top of the roo's pen at night.
I got the roo from the RSPCA about 12 months ago. His name is Rocky & he is my baby. Like I said, you can sit him in your lap for ages & pat him....a real cutie. The red hens name is Pumpkin, a black one called Daisy & another black one called Sweet-Pea. The white meat chicken is called Porcelain. All very sweet chickens.

Ok....Here's the pic. If you're interested, let me know on BYC's reply to this thread & then I can give you all the details, phone numbers etc.

Hey Aussie BYC'ers

Finally added the finishing touches to the coop yesterday morning and collected the girls yesterday afternoon.

Betty (left) Lolly (right) - 10 weeks

Mabel (forground) Dot (background) - 12 weeks

Now we really feel like fully fledged members of BYC. Trying to spend as much time with them as we can to get them used to us they all seem a little nervous after the move.

Does any one have any tips on teaching the Silkies to drink from the drinking cups on the Royal Rooster waterers? I tried jam yesterday and they didn't seem interested, have now moved onto grapes. They also don't seem to get the concept of the ramp/ladder. The Pekings had sussed out both within minutes of entering the coop.

Hi satay!  Thanks to you and everyone else for the welcome. People are so friendly and helpful in here. :D What are your plans for the quails?  Are they destined for the table?

The off spring from these guys are destined for our pet snakes bellies. :) .I'm gunna hatch eggs and eat some eggs and perhaps sell some for hatching,.
