It's a day and a half early, but the yolk sac was absorbed, so it's good.
 
They don't seem quite as skitterish as past chicks. I handle them once a day, and make sure each one is calm, before returning it to the brooder. I also sing to them when no other human being is in the house. It seems to calm them down.

Handling them really does help with their behavior.
 
I have some eggs from mine in the incubator right now that are due to hatch on July 17th. I did the first candling on them already and seen the spider veins in some. I had one that had a bloodring in it though, so I tossed that one. I'm using a blue Australorp rooster this time. He is the son of the Splash one in my avatar.
