I am going to buy an automatic door for my coop. I really like the looks of this one:http://adorstore.com/products/ador1-automatic-chicken-door and would like to know if anyone is using it. I would like to stay around the $200 dollar range.

I'd like to know which doors seem to work the best, I liked this door because of it's light sensor and affordable battery. I am a little nervous about the light sensor door because we do have a lot of overcast days and rain, I don't want it to malfunction and close early. I have some hens that like to wait until the last moment to go in!

I would like some freedom this summer and not have to try to race home in the fall/winter.

Thanks,

Amy

Here's the thread for the ADOR1 that Scott H mentioned: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/740659/ador1-automatic-coop-door

I had the same questions about it after looking at the Pullet Shut, another offered by My Pet Chicken and a bunch of others. In the end, I actually did order an ADOR1 because 1)No strings or pulleys 2)slides up and down instead of swinging open like a door 3)appeared solidly and mindfully built 4)runs on an inexpensive battery 5)cost - less expensive than other comparable models plus has an integrated photosensor

Definitely read the thread since the owner of the ADOR1 answers a lot of questions on that thread himself.

Good luck!
