Here are 8 of the little Lavender Ameracaunas. They hatched March 6th, 2023.
Sometimes this is what it takes. After we separated the two breeds of chicks the Beifehelder chicks stopped pecking at the others.
This morning started off sad.
A few days ago I saw one of my EE hens limping, but it takes two people to examine her. So this morning my husband held her while I examined her feet and it looks like she has bumblefoot on both feet.
Also one of our new Lavender Ameracauna pullets has crossbeak. I am very sad about this. I hope she will live, it doesn't look too severe but we will see she is only 6 days old. I will post photos after I contact the hatchery.
Oh poor little dear. They can live healthy lives if a bit more attention is paid to them. Wet/dampened mash is perfect for them to eat.I will also be documenting the crossbeak pullet in this thread.
