We recently suddenly lost a chick and now we have another that looks ill.
The first chick died at 3 days old. It went very cold, lethargic and has watery poo. It had spraddle foot as well.
We now have another chick that seems very wobbly and has a red swollen area under it. I’ll attach a photo.
Does anyone what it might be and how I can help? Thank you

Is that for sure the vent opening, and not the navel? It may have a prolapsed vent from pasty butt constipation. I would clean it off with a little warm soapy water and tissues. Try not to chill the chick getting it too wet. Apply some hydrocortisone cream, honey or vaseline to the vent opening. Is the chicken drinking and eating? You can give the chick some chips of chilled coconut oil to peck, or some olive oil in a small amount of egg or food. That can lube the tubes. How hot is your brooder temperature? Do you have a warmer spot to get to if they are too warm?
