I received 17 bantam chicks in the mail on Friday, Feb 23 and all seemed well. On Sunday evening, I noticed one of them limping. At first, I thought it may have been injured because my 3-year-old got to them and accidentally dropped one but as the days have gone on, and as I've done additional research, I'm not sure if that is the cause of the problem. I did not put her in quarantine immediately but allowed her to stay with the others because I was not sure as to the extent of the injury and she was mostly getting around fine with just a little bit of limping and hopping. A day or two later, when I could see that she wasn't improving I separated her so that she could get to food and water without too much difficulty, to keep her from getting trampled and pushed around by the others, and to allow her some time to heal. Unfortunately, the leg has gotten worse and I'm not sure what to do at this point. I suppose splinting may be an option but, again, I don't know the exact cause of the injury, I am inexperienced with this, and I'm not sure if it's too late. I don't want to do additional damage. Her right foot appears to be swollen at the joint and at times her foot turns out slightly to the right. She used to not mind putting some weight on it but now she doesn't want to use it at all.
Photos attached - there are no open wounds, anything that looks out of place aside from the foot is probably just poop and/or pine shavings.
