They are probably plucking and eating their own / each others feathers.

Look for evidence in the droppings, and be sure you are feeding them the right feed for their ages, They need the 17 to 24 % protein, for the first 16 to 18 weeks.

No layer pellets until 20 + weeks, too much calcium can damage young kidneys....
 
They are 25 weeks old, so I am feeding them layer pellets. If they are plucking out their own feathers, is there another way to stop that? Diet? They have a very large run/coop - 15 square feet per bird in the run and 5 sq ft per bird in the hen house. So I can't imagine they're doing it because they're bored or crammed together. If it were parasites, would they still be eating the feathers? I think it's interesting there are no signs of feathers on the ground.
