Help! I woke up this morning to find one of my silkies has a large bald patch on the top of her head. None of my other chickens are missing any feathers and I have never seen any aggression amongst them. There is no blood or skin damage. What could be causing this? I changed their food to Dumor Grower formula 2 1/2 weeks ago once they were 10 weeks old. Could they not be getting enough protein? I can't imagine this is a bullying issue because I never seen any bullying during the day, but I'm only seeing missing feathers on 1 of my 5 birds. Any ideas?

Hi :frow

It looks like feather pecking from other birds. Unfortunately the crested breeds often attract unwanted attentions with their crests. I’ve certainly had it happen in my flock of crested polish. Often it’s not something aggressive but inquisitive behaivour. Once they start they pecking they can’t seem to stop. Is this your only silkie?

You could try no peck spray on the crest to deter the other birds from pecking.

I have 2 silkies. The other one isn't missing any feathers at all. Thanks for the advice!
