1) What type of bird , age and weight.
Bantam Cochin (Colombian), rooster, not crowing yet (~4-5 months), not sure of weight, but healthy and active.
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
Noticed him undulating his neck like he has something stuck in it. Gave treats of apple slices this morning and he wasn't interested. He stays with the three hens, but just keeps doing his neck movements.
3) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
no, but he does have a tiny scratch on his comb that has a dried bit of blood on it - probably the result of nasty elder hens pecking at him. grrrr.
4) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
no.
5) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
yes, he has been eating, but not that I've seen today. I feed them organic lay feed mixed some scratch and treats of fruit and veggies. They also have access to oyster shell and fresh/clean water all of the time. His crop feels full and a bit hard, but I'm not sure if that is normal.
6) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
Normal.
7) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
Picked him up and looked him over for any abnormalities. Massaged crop briefly this morning.
8 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
I would rather treat him at home if possible, but I do have an avian specialist available for my chickens if I need her.
9) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
I really need a video to show what he is doing. He is making undulations with his neck and opening his mouth when the rolling of the neck gets to the top. I'll post a picture of him in a bit.
10) Describe the housing/bedding in use
Large coop that he shares with 3 bantam hens (1 Colombian, 2 sizzles). Free-range the yard during daylight hours. Bedding is shavings that I change once per week. See my profile for coop photos.
