Bay Area BYCers!

Jeremy, I just wanted to tell you that your birds are so friendly. Because of the move, I haven't been able to spend any quality time with the babies. But today when I sat in the run for the first time, a couple of them automatically jumped onto my lap. Colonel Brandon even jumped on my shoulder. I will post pics soon.

Renee, I'm glad you're happy with them and I would LOVE to see pictures! Have you figured out gender yet? Or what colors you have?

Carlos and I spent the weekend in Southern California with family, it was SO incredibly HOT down there, how are you settling in?

OK all I need a little help....

I would like to purchase a 2 or 3 leghorn pullets from someone in the area if possible. My existing leghorn pullets which I raised this year and (1 had started laying) accidently ended up in the pen of birds that were raised to be "processed" last week. Had friends helping so they slipped through.... If anyone could help I would really appreciate it and no this has not ever happened before... I have been keeping a pen for birds to be "processed" for 4 years now and this is the first time one of the named girls have ever ended up there... I am looking for white egg layers (Cali whites, whites, or any) leghorn as they balance out the egg cartons for my customers. I have more folks who want the entire Dark brown, light brown, olive, blue, blue-green and white spectrum of colors than those who want a solid color... now that I do not have my new hatch of white egg layers coming in and "Nice" and "Nasty" are about 4 years old and don't lay at the rate they use to. So if anyone can help out PM or email me what you have available and your price I would be most appreciative..

Thank You
Norm in Vallejo

Norm, I wish you would have posted your request a month ago! I recently sold a pair of Buff Leghorns that I could have given to you.

Cheryl is raising a bunch of the Mille Fleur Leghorns, she might have something available. Or Luke down in Santa Cruz has some awesome Black Minorcas!

ETA, How are your Chanteclers doing? Any pictures?

Hey norm I have a zoo-like amount of mille fleur leghorns but the eldest are only 3 months. The boys amazingly are crowing but I can't really tell at this point which ones I will be culling out of my breeding program, except for one that is 7 weeks as she is (I'll have to dbl chk sex) but I think it's a she last look, but she's coming in too dark, but would be a great layer if you want her. free to you darling!

Does anyone know where I can get good quality Exchequer Leghorns????? My Sand Hill order was a bust and I have had such poor luck with shipped eggs lately, but I would be willing to keep trying rather than do without.
Thanks

Jeremy, You got rid of Bridgets leggerns? what happened? The hatch of Ameraucana just finished. 12 happy little wheaten peepers. Thanks again. I noticed earlier you talked about some black Blehm birds./ If you want I have 6 2 month olds.

Also, Norm I do have some pure Minorca and some Minorca/Sumatra hybrid.... Great in the heat, great white egg layers.

The heat is brutal on the fluffy butted birds, but great for the chiles and tomatoes. Go Garden!!!!

I have a pair of Bridget's Black Minorcas but would love to have another pullet or 2. Do you have any available? I got a couple of her Light Sussex pullets from her at a 4H show here & then drove out to her beautiful place & got the Black Minorcas. She's still gone to Colorado. I think I would have to check my calendar.
