This year i decided to step it up a notch. I now have 14 jubilee orpington . Talk about BIG beautiful birds they are very close to start laying and once they do I will hatch some. I can't wait. I will say these birds are only coming up on 6 months old but HUGE. Also was not sure at first if any were roos or not. Looks like an even split 7 hens 7 roos. The only thing is none of them have made a peep as far as crowing. This baffles me cuz all other young roos I have are crowing all around them. I'm guessing they will crow someday or are they just well behaved quiet birds..

Welcome to BYC!!

As far as crowing i think that just depends on the bird lol. i have some banty roos who are 7 months old and dont crow, just make like quiet noises kinda. Luckily for me the Barred Buff takes care of the crowing lol.

Congrats on your new Jubi Flock, i bet their Pretty!!

Jubilee Orps are lovely chickens, I've seen some photos of them.

We're glad to have you.

Some breeds mature slower than others. You roosters may just not be mature enough to crow yet. My roosters generally start crowing at about 8 weeks, but some wait for months longer.
