Best Raccoon Solutions? Lost My Best Broody Last Night

I had raccoon problems about a year ago and trapped like 1 a day till I got tired of it and heard about nite guards.Hung a few of those up and presto, no problem since.Its a solar powered blinking red light that comes on automatically at dusk.Before I had lost about 15 birds over a month or two but zero after putting up nite guards.

Probably lose the whole flock tonight after bragging lol,I need to look for some wood to knock on!

Well, I have two of the Duke Dog Proof traps in the mail. We'll see how they like my pellet gun. I know I shouldn't be mad at a raccoon for doing what's natural for it, but this is not the place for them, and 80% of the raccoons tested by animal control around here have tested positive for rabies.

Last summer the raccoons completely wiped out a neighbor's flock. Somewhere in the neighborhood is a woman who paid a contractor to retrofit her attic for the cute little raccoons according to neighbors. I wonder if she knows what they do to people's chickens or how likely they are to carry rabies. I just don't understand some people.
