Hello y'all, I was wanting to start showing exhibition chickens this year at several poultry shows and I was wondering which breeds were best for beginners? I was interested in obtaining one Asil and maybe a couple of Australorps(housed seperatly)? Any other suggestions and I will look into them! Oh and they also can't be able to fly too well, they will be at the school farm and kept behind at 5-6ft tall pen. Thanks!

Comb thru both mags and see which colors and breed are constantly winning at the big shows at the high levels. ( Championship Row and above). Now chose 4 or 5 breeds from that list. Pick one of the 4 or 5 and buy stock from a top winning veteran linebred strain. I think you'll find a solid color is best and wins m0ost often at the top levels. Either black or white. Linebreed on this veteran top strain. Do not cross strains without approval from the breeder of your birds.
Best,
Karen

Well do you know of any breeders? I keep googling, but I can't find any that sell a minimum amount of birds. Also are there any Show Quality Aseel/Asil breeders out there? I really want one hen to show and potentially brood.
