bird treats for chicks? also what exactly is grit and when to feed it

ok i was wondering can i give my chicks bird treats like for parakeets and stuff?

and what is grit where do u buy it and what is it actually used for i have nc on this and am curious .....thanks all!!

How old are your chicks? Answering that will give the information to be able to answer your question.

Grit is nothing more than sand and small stones that the chicken swallows along with food. It acts like a grinding compound. It is not necessary with chicks because it is included in the chick starter ration that you buy. Once you start using regular food at 18 - 20 weeks old then you need a bowl of grit for them to pic through.

ok well lets see 1 have 5 that are abt 8 weeks id say i have 1 that is almost 3 weeks and 2 that i am not sure abt id say 3-4 weeks? do you think bird treats would be ok?

The 8 week olds will be fine with treats like you mentioned. The 3 - 4 week olds can have very small amounts of treats.
