Hi everyone This morning checking my quail's house I discovered that my little almond had laid a very strange egg. the egg is dark blue, almost black, and has a thin shell. inside is normal, I even think it was fertilized. I think my little almond is the product of inbreeding, she is small and somewhat crazy (but we love her very much). I was wondering if any of you had something like this happen to you. my little girl behaves normally, eats and drinks very well. I separated her from the male because he was leaving her bald. he is 7 months old

Yes, I actually posted about a weird egg I got and it was this. I think this may be a sign of calcium deficiency? Maybe someone can correct me.

What do you feed Almond? I added crushed oyster shells to the dirt/sand mix every week and they seem to do a lot better.

Almond eats the same as the others, feed for layers. I crush egg shells and put them in a separate container for them to take when they need to.
this week has been irregular in laying eggs, and those that have been laid are thin-shelled.

Is it damp there? I’ve had those when a hen lays a thin shelled egg for whatever reason, and the egg is wet or moist for a while after, the thin shell eggs take on water sometimes because they aren’t properly sealed.

Interesting. It is possible since I found that egg on the ground. although the humidity where he lived is between 10% to 20%

Can I just say the egg looks pretty cool?!
I would suggest give them a week with some extra source of calcium (try a mixed grit), could be she doesn't eat the eggs shells because she doesn't like them and that's what's causing the thin shells. She looks cute though. Good luck!
