Looks like a large black house cat to me.. Shoulders arent high enough, Body isnt thick enough, Tail isnt long enough and ears are too pointed to be a "plack panther"

African or Asian?

Depends on the ears.

OR a team of specialists to confirm that it was indeed an elephant and not just a hippo or even a housecoat, then with further testing, said team should ultimately deny the existence of the suspected elephant. This denial will be based largely on the lack of experience of the person reporting the elephant. Experience in what? Doesn't matter! If the elephant isn't natural to that area, all official reports should deny its existence. It is just NOT possible for regular folk to know what they're talking about. ONLY an extremely experienced PhD'd smarty-pants can verify what the animal really is.

Hope this doesn't offend.

Let me clarify, I'm the only one that knows what I'm talking about. And I'm right.

Seriously, I hope I haven't offended anyone. It's just that I know more. Than you.

I'll edit if this really offends.

Yes, when the Game Warden finally arrived at my house, he asked me if I had gone into the woods to look for any tracks? I said, "well, no! Do you think I wanted to get eaten?? You have a .357 strapped to your hip and a high powered flashlight, YOU go look for some tracks!" All of a sudden he didn't think it was a good idea!
