Hi , I have 2 new pullets in quarantine. They are around 4 months old. Thelma and Louise. Day 2 Thelma started making like a bad mucusey sound with breathing and runny nose. Also noticed a few little black dots on her comb. Louise has shown no issues. Day 3 I put oxytetracycline in their water. Day 4 and Day 5 the noisey breathing and runny nose completely gone. I am still giving the meds for now. ( should I be ? ) However still some black dots. Are they normal or something that should be treated ? I took a pic , it's not a great pic but here it is.

Hi,

From my limited experience they seem quite normal - in my chickens at least. In my case i think that they are caused by biting insects and the black spots are scabs - thats what i can only guess at the cause. They seem to disappear or you can wipe them away. At first i thought that it was fowl pox, but evidently that was not the case.
