i have 1 chicken and she stays in a pen in the garage at night but has the run of the backyard. It’s not pecking wounds since she’s the only one I have. What would you recommend putting on the spots if anything? I’m thinking pox now and I hope we are both correct. Those could be fowl pox, which is a virus and has to run it's course, or they are small peck wounds. I'm leaning toward pecking wounds. Dry pox usually starts with a pale raised blistery area that turns dark as it progresses and the scab eventually falls off. Pox is usually transmitted by mosquitos and usually will run it's course with no real problems. Wet pox can be more serious and there will be lesions in the mouth and throat. How many chickens do you have, in how much space? I do think it looks more like pecking wounds.
She’s the only 1 I haveI agree with @coach723 I'm thinking it's likely peck wounds
Thank you I will. She’s my baby and I love her so much!Very likely a mild case of fowl pox. Just keep an eye on things.
Thank you I think she’s doing better, no more spots have shown upYou don't have to put anything on them. I had this in my chickens once and in a few weeks it was gone. Just like when we get chicken pox, it has to run its course. You'll want to keep and eye on her mouth because wet pox is a much worse problem.
