Blue Copper Maran Chicks, 4-5 weeks old

Hello--I've got the same question, and the same age Blue Copper Maran. He or she will be 5 weeks old in 2 days. Thoughts on male vs female?

Here is a photo of my cuckoo marans at about 4 or 5 weeks if that helps? Their single combs stick out pretty early, but stay pretty yellow/flesh toned as pullets.

thanks, that looks pretty similar to mine--her comb is just bigger than my other 3 (Orpington, Welsummer, and Cream Legbar). I'm hopeful that my Maran is a pullet, and that their combs just come a little sooner!

I'm not familiar with the breed but, I didn't think they have feathered legs. Some one else coming along will probably know for sure.

black copper Marans do have feathered legs, it's part of the appeal of the breed

Pullets or Cockrells?? My mind changes everytime I look at them. Can anyone please help sex them? Any guesses? I'm new to this breed...... Thank you!!!!!

I would difinitly NOT sex chickens by combs!!!

I only raised one BCM chick, and he looked different from this chick.
So my random first guess is a girl

All my ones that have had longer tails when they are young have been girlies! There is like a 82% chance! Don't kill me cause thats what I think!
