Its a normal so the feather pattern is damaged on that line. Probably from outcrossing or poor selective breeding practices. I personally wouldnt allow that bird to reproduce since its offspring are likely to have the same issue

Hi. Thanks. I won't be breeding any of them, I only got the original three quail by rescuing them from a guy who had 40 of them (and a chicken) in awful conditions. I got the additional two to get closer to the recommended male to female ratio (and for the eggs of course)
