Bright red chickens?

So while watching a cardinal come to our birdfeeder the other day I suddenly got the idea of trying to breed a bright red chicken, just like a cardinal. think its a possibility?

You won't create a new shade of red. What's possible has already been done.

Bright red chicks.....
Not a good idea, people dye chicks bright red for Easter presents, or just in general for kids. Creating something already dyed bright red will just help them. Coloured chicks are generally something people will gift to someone else, then they’ll abandon it as soon as it stops being “cute”. Hate to crush your dream, but it really isn’t a good idea. You could do a less bright, more normal looking chick. Though that has already been made.

This is just an idea to throw out here, & it maybe plausible.

Maybe you can take, & breed only the reddest birds you have, only selecting the best, & closest to the red color you want, & inbreeding them[for an experiment]to see if if the inbreeding produces any mutations in the red/Mahogany gene for a brighter red.

This process may take several years to to produce anything if it does.

Show quality New Hampshire reds are the closest I can think of. Though, compared to a cardinal, they’re more orange.

I don’t know if that red would ever be achieve. The brightest red would be what everyone shared.
