Buff orpington, 5 weeks. Plz help

Thank god! Spent a fortune on a Coop.. and just 2 🤪 guess we got to buy more pullets then.
Light Sussex, are they easy/hard to sex in 5/6 weeks of age..?
Some breeds have gender specific breast feathers: males have black, females have salmon/light brown/penciled breaststroke. Being as those feathers come in around 3 weeks they're easier to sex.

Example: brown leghorn

The color on her breast is black on the roos.

This is a mixed breed roo, her grandson, with her coloring (the red leakage is from the other genetics).

Dark Brahmas are another

The roos have a black breast and white saddle feathers.

If you're able to find breeds with these characteristics, you can at least figure out gender sooner than the 6ish weeks for comb/wattles to start growing.

(Speckled sussex, the other hen pictured, do NOT have the different breast colors)

I don't know that breeds you have access to, nor do I know if you have access to birds vent-sexed at hatching. (Do not try at home, that takes specially training). Hope this info helps you find more hens.

Tank you all:clap

I haven’t heard of any vent-sexing here, I’m a newbie though. Fertilized eggs and chickens are available in the private market here, so no big industry for backyard chicks.

Will probably go for light sussex, and choose wisely. Thanks for the help.
