I'm thinking I caught it early but I was wondering how I should cut into it. Should I try and take it all off or cut into it straight and squeeze the infection thing out?
I have only seen videos of them cutting in to get the scab and kernel of infection out
I’m not seeing a scab yet so not sure what would be the best option @Miss Lydia has some knowledge of bumble foot
Well when I brought her in yesterday evening I asked my mom if she saw anything on the foot and she told me no but I just looked when letting the chickens out and found the scab so I just cut around that
I usually try and gently peel the scab off soaking in Epsom salt water can help get the scab softened so it will come off easily. Then you might have to use sterile tweezers to pick out the infection, they don't have runnny pus like us humans. Then I pack the hole with antibiotic ointment and use non-stick gauze and vet wrap. You'll need to keep her out of water. Check in a few days to make sure you got all the infection out. Leave wrapped until skin has healed over to keep nasties out.
Miss Lydia I really think I caught it early it took no time at all and I just did what you said and it popped right out I used the tweezers to get one left over piece and got it all wrapped up !
I don't think that's bumblefoot. I think she had an impacted toe pocket. If that's the case, that's something you want to empty out every once in a while but otherwise needs no special treatment.
