My brother was holding this white leghorn the other day and I noticed that on the bottom of one of it's feet there is a lump. The chicken seems to walk fine, but just wondered if this was bumblefoot.
Side by side comparison... The right foot, which seems to be the one with the problem.
I gave her an epsom salt foot soak today and put some melaleuac essential oil on it. She walks and runs and scratches normally, so it must not be too bad yet. What is the black/grey spot on the bottom of her foot?
That is the bumblefoot scab where the cut is. Have you looked at the pictures in the links? They usually show that same spot. Inside the foot pad when one performs surgery and cuts around the scab, there will be some pus or solidified pus that looks like a cheese kernel that can be squeezed out.
