I feed the Nutrena all flock feed with oyster/egg shell on the side free choice....they get what they need. It does not really look like they eat it but it disappears and my shells are hard as a brick so it's working.Hi there, I have 13 laying Hens, and Im curious to what I can give them to make their egg shells not as soft. Do they have access to calcium all the time, and if so, what type(s)?
Do you only have actively laying hens? If yes, you could switch over to layer feed.
Switch them to a layer feed.Oyster shells (free choice) is going to be the consensus. They will take what they want and need.

I have the crushed...I mix it with egg shell. They usually dig the egg shell out but I don't put any more until they finish the oyster shell. A small bag lasts a long time.Do you feed them flaked oyster shells?
