One of my hens was displaying symptoms of what I was reading to be a possible egg binding. Upon further research, I believe it might have been EYP. Her stomach was rock hard, she was lethargic, and she waddled like a penguin. She was 3.5 years old.
What I wanted to ask though, is I crushed up a calcium tablet and gave it to her through a syringe while getting the water ready to put her in the bath. As I was holding her, she started convulsing and died in my arms. Is it possible that the calcium killed her? Did I murder my poor chicken?
Any information or opinions are welcome.
Thanks in advance

Excess calcium ingestion is a long term killer not a short term one.. according to my current understanding.

No, under NO circumstances would trying to help your hen be "murder".. even if it is specifically euthanasia.

Doesn't seem necessary but if you want laboratory feedback on her condition via necropsy and you're located in the US.. there should be contact info in the following link ..

Sorry for your loss and experience! :hugs
