Anyone knows a great tip on how to remove flies that are always inside a temporary brooder? The brooder is located outside, until I can build them a proper coop this summer. The rain has been the problem. I put two dog crates together, and i would cover them with plywood and cover the plywood with tarp.

Are they flies or those little waps we get in the spring?

They are definitely flies, not sure what type flies but as soon as I lift the tarp, they start flying away.
You should figure out where they are laying eggs and what the maggots are eating if they are flies. the little wasps that look like flies actually eat maggot flies.

For maggot flies, traps, poison or fly predators will work.

We have no flies here in Woodland currently. It might be different there though

I am hatching out some silkie chicks next weekend. If anyone is interested please pm me. I live in Stockton.
I hope you have a great hatch!
